BSA Troop 245

Troop 245 was chartered on May 13th 1996, and quickly became an active organization in Accokeek and surrounding communities.  Troop 245 is part of the Tayac District , and the National Capital Area Council

If you're between the ages of 11 and 17,  we invite you to join our Scouting program.  If you're a parent, you might be interested in volunteering to be a Scout leader.  Scouting offers a time-tested set of activities that have produced fine citizens, dedicated family members, and strong community leaders for more than 90 years.  We meet each Tuesday Evening, 6:45 PM,  at the First Baptist Church of Accokeek,  15802 Blackburn Street (next to the water tower off Livingston Road).  For more information send please send email to the webmaster jecrawf@comcast.net .

What is Boy Scouting? The Boy Scouts get away from it all! They camp, hike and fish in the great outdoors.  Scouting is much more than camping and outdoors, though.  Scouting is about an ethical, tried and true, safe program for mentoring our children.  It's a program that let's our kids be kids, while maturing into adulthood.  It's about something that has long since left the mainstream secular world, it's about ethics, honesty, old fashion family values.  If you think this is hype, come to a meeting or other function, and see for yourself.

Swimming is a one of many basic life skills taught by Scouting. Here, the boys are playing and practicing prior to going to summer camp where they take a swim test.

Support to the Providence United Methodist Church fundraisers - The troops provides manpower for the four dinner fundraisers hosted by the church during the year.  All have a great time and we get to eat for free!

Greater Accokeek Civic Association (GACA) monthly meetings - The troop is occasionally asked to perform an honor guard for the opening flag ceremony at the monthly meetings of the Greater Accokeek Civic Association.  Read laudatory comments and photo from the GACA for our participation in their April 30th meeting.
